Sandusky Post 83 captures

State Baseball Championship

Sandusky American Legion Post 83 culminated a very successful American Legion Baseball season with a hard fought 10-0 victory over Napoleon American Legion Post 300 in the championship game of the 2009 American Legion State Baseball Tournament as Sandusky went undefeated with a 5-0 record.

Sandusky Post 83, the 2008 Depart-ment Champion, now repeats as the 2009 State Champion and over the past two tournaments has posted a ten wins, no defeats record.

American Legion Baseball District winners from 12 Districts gathered in Athens from July 27 to July 31 for the 23-game, 5-day tournament marked by outstanding play from all teams.

American Legion District Winners playing in the State Tournament were: (D-1) Napoleon Post 300; (D-2) Lima Post 96; (D-3) Piqua Post 184; (D-4) Mt. Carmel Post 72; (D-5) Sandusky Post 83; (D-6) St. Louisville Post 804; (D-7) Portsmouth Post 23; (D-8) Pickerington Post 283; (D-10) Alliance Post 166; (D-11) Beverly/Lowell Post 389/750; (D-12) Grove City Post 164; and (D-9) Wickliffe Post 7.

Sandusky Post 83 then advanced into the National American Legion Great Lakes Regional competition in Appleton, Wisconsin, where unfortunately the team did not fare as well, going 1-2 in the double elimination tournament.

The American Legion State Baseball Commission congratulates Sandusky and the other 88 American Legion teams that played in the 2009 Ohio Season.
