Buckeye Boys State announces revised schedule for 2012

The American Legion Buckeye Boys State program wishes to advise all of the sponsoring Posts and Squadrons in the Department that effective as of 2012, Buckeye Boys State has been reduced from nine (9) days to eight (8) days in length, with Boys State now starting on Sunday, rather than Saturday.

The dates for the 2012 Buckeye Boys State program will be June 10-17, 2012.

Buckeye Boys State has taken this action to reduce program operating costs, while at the same time allowing Boys State, appreciating the financial situation many Posts/Squadrons are in, to maintain the same Delegate Enrollment Fee charged for many years.

This action has also been taken to better serve the young men who are Boys State's customers by ending a long time conflict which Posts/Squadrons have dealt with, which Boys State knows has kept some young men from attending.

The American Legion Buckeye Boys State program NO LONGER will conflict with the June ACT test.

A young man can now take the June ACT test without rushing to get to Boys State at the end of the ACT test; being late to the Boys State program; or worse case scenario, opting not to attend Boys State at all.

With the Sunday start of Boys State, a young man now has down time to relax on Saturday after the ACT test, get a good nights' rest and then be 100% ready to attend Buckeye Boys State on Sunday.

This direction should help the Boys State program and sponsoring Posts/Squadrons reduce the number of "No Show's" experienced by the program.

The American Legion Buckeye Boys State program will still conclude with the traditional and moving Graduation Ceremonies on the following Sunday.
