Most people aren't aware there is a "National Day of Prayer."

Every year on the first Thursday in May, an annual observance is held inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. President Harry S. Truman signed it into law in 1952.

There is even a task force whose purpose is to encourage participation in the National Day of Prayer. As our Commander in Chief, the President of the United States attends a National Prayer Breakfast.

What is a prayer breakfast? Believe it or not, there is actually an organization called the Prayer Breakfast Network (PBN).

The goal of the PBN is to reach every city across the United States with a well-planned prayer breakfast. The purpose is to reach leaders for Jesus Christ. The objective is to pray for all in authority that we may live Godly lives. The strategy of the PBN is to use prayer breakfast events, which have been shown to be highly effective at reaching into the communities and impacting local leaders. Leaders who desire to get involved, and experience a fresh reminder of our country's spiritual heritage.
