Department Executive Committee highlights

On December 1, 2007, Department Commander Mike Morman opened the Department Executive Committee in proper form. The invocation was given by Department Chaplain Elmer Thomas. Department 1st Vice Commander Bob Kimball passed out Brown Jugs to the winners. District 1 was the Big Brown Jug winner; District 2 was the winner in the Medium category and District 12 was the Little Brown Jug winner. Department 2nd Vice Lou Dimmerman reported on activities.

The following appointments were ratified by the Department Executive Committee: Barb Handschumacher (Post 64) and Don Newbauer (Post 140) to the Golf Commission; and Joe Rockwell (Post 737) to the Finance Committee to finish the 2007-08 year.

National Vice Commander David A. Korth gave a detailed report to the Department Executive Committee. Department Treasurer Sam Vechter gave the Department Finance Committee Report that was passed by this Committee. Remarks were given by NEC Carl Swisher and Alternate NEC Richard Zulch.

Gnadenhutten Post 154 in the 10th District has asked to consolidate with Thomas C. Montgomery Post 431in Newcomerstown. This consolidation was approved. The charter of Post 36, Risingsun (D-1), was revoked by the Department Executive Committee.

Charities, Inc. Chairman Glenn Hickman reported that Charities, Inc. had passed their IRS audit and reported on the sweepstakes. Remarks were given by acting Department Judge Advocate Hank Long.

Reports were given on Employment, Legislative, Gifts for Yanks, SAL, Department Convention, Bowling, Religious Emphasis, Environment Conservation, Buckeye Boys State, Baseball, Scouting, Oratorical, VA Cemeteries, Special Olympics, A&G Test, Educator of the Year, Citizens Flag Alliance and the Electric Classroom of Tomorrow.
