Buckeye Boys State receives $5,000 from AT&T

COLUMBUS - The American Legion Buckeye Boys State recently received a $5,000 donation from AT&T Corporation to help further the program's ongoing mission to educate young men about city, county and state government and teach them how to be active leaders in their communities.

A letter from David Kandel, Director of External Affairs for AT&T Ohio, which accompanied the donation stated that "AT&T believes the experience American Legion Buckeye Boys State provides is essential for our nation's future. Boys State gives young people meaningful and challenging insights into how public policy is made in a representative form of government and encourages those who are interested in public service…"

State Senator Steve Buehrer (R-Delta), who is in the Buckeye Boys State Hall of Fame and has served as a counselor at Boys State for several years, applauded AT&T's donation.

"I am glad AT&T has chosen to support Buckeye Boys State's important mission to help educate the future leaders of our state," said Buehrer.

A ceremonial check was presented to Buckeye Boys State by representatives of AT&T at the Statehouse in Columbus. Senator Buehrer, David Kandel and Gerald A. White, Director of American Legion Buckeye Boys State, were all in attendance.

The American Legion Buckeye Boys State program thanks AT&T for this generous gift.
