2008 Law and Order Program
under way
The Department Law and Order Committee is
encouraging all Post, County, and District Officers
to present Law and Order awards to outstanding
civilian, police, and firefighters in their local
area. It is felt that this program is one of the
very best ways to enhance the image of your Post
and The American Legion, and at the same time,
recognize outstanding individuals within your
community.
Special certificates of recognition for
prominent police officers and firefighters are
available free upon request from Department
Headquarters. These certificates are signed by the
Department Commander and Adjutant and contain
spaces for the signatures of the Post Commander and
Adjutant.
The Department of Ohio also recognizes the most
outstanding Police Officer, Firefighter, and
Civilian Life Saver of the Year. All nominations
are to be submitted by Posts to their respective
District Commanders. Districts then judge the
nominations and submit the winners to Department
Headquarters for judging by the Department Law and
Order committee.
Entries must be received at Department
Headquarters by 12:00 noon, June 2, 2008.
Information concerning the awards was mailed to
all posts this past November. To request a packet
contact Event & Support Staff Director, Brenda
McGowan, at Department Headquarters.
