Simons SITREP
By Thomas Simons, Department Adjutant

Greetings fellow Legionnaires and Legion Family Members. My name is Tom Simons and I am honored to serve as the sixth Adjutant for The American Legion, Department of Ohio. My monthly column is tilted "Simons' SITREP". I will provide you with a SITuation REPort from the Department Headquarters that will include, upcoming National and Department events.

I am a retired career Army Officer. My wife, Becky, and I live in Canal Winchester, Ohio. I have been involved with The American Legion my entire life. My Grandfather, Harley Sprowls was an active member and Past Commander of Post 656, West Alexander, Pennsylvania. Seeing my Grandfather's pride in his military service and the values my father instilled in me were major influences in my choice to serve my country.

We have a busy three months ahead. The Department is heading to Washington, D.C., in February to speak with our elected officials about issues that concern our veterans and families. Committee meetings start to ramp up in March and April in preparation for our Department Convention in Indepen-dence. Then on the horizon in August lies the National Convention right here in the Buckeye State.

I am excited to serve as your Adjutant. For God and Country… Airborne!
